Classmate Profile:
Tim Knotts

Tim attended UC Davis where he earned a BS in Planning and Management. After college, Tim joined the National Park Service, working first at Yosemite in California, then at Denali in Alaska. Working for the National Park Service afforded Tim the opportunity to experience things that most do not experience in their first job out of college, like being charged by a full-grown moose. Really. During his time in Alaska, Tim built what turned out to be his first log cabin (He currently owns a 30 acre parcel in the Catskill Mountains in NY where he has built his second log cabin).

After his stint with the NPS, Tim shifted his career into the financial services industry. He currently owns and operates his own fee-based investment advisory and financial planning business in New Jersey.

Tim married in 1984. He has four children: Jake (14), Sierra (12), Eilea (10) and Kiralee (8). His family shares his love of travel and the outdoors. They spend much of their leisure time together camping, hiking and backpacking all along the eastern seaboard, from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia to the Florida Keys, and most points in-between. When not out enjoying the great outdoors, Tim can often be found playing the mandolin with his family in their Bluegrass Band, "Tied Up in Knotts." Tim also volunteers his time with the local scouting program. He has been the Cubmaster and the Scoutmaster for his son's Pack and Troop, respectively.

Tim also enjoys rock climbing, snow skiing, kayaking and reading, when he can find the time. Tim and his family reside in West Long Branch, NJ. (Profile written September 2003)
